happy friday y'all!

So this week I finally stopped being lazy and started blogging again. Just in time for a Friday post! Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! 

1. Started off the week with brunch (and a bloody mason) with my boyfriend and his parents. Love some quality time over a meal. 

2. Finally (a year and a half later) put a bookcase in my living room to fill the empty nook. It "only" took me three hours and two mistakes to put it together all by my handy-woman self. I really like it! 

3. A Sephora VIB sale meant picking up two things that have been on my wishlist since the beginning of time. NARS turkish delight and Tarte amazonian blush in amused. I'm in love with both. 

4. When I saw this tee, I knew I had to have it. Chanel + Nola love is my kind of jam. Loving the white version... but now I want all the colors... 

5. Tomorrow will be the first time I've ever sold things in a garage sale. I feel like I've covered every inch of my condo for things to sell. Getting rid of old crap makes me feel lighter already.  Maybe I'm weird, but I don't think I was born with a sentimental bone in my body. I have no problem getting rid of things, I just hope most of it sells!

Happy Friday, Y'all! Another long week coming to an end. This week the wood floors in my condo were finally repaired thanks to my amazing dad who seems to know how to do anything and saved me major $$$$.  Now I'm looking forward to a good weekend and making memories at the St. Patrick's Day parade tomorrow... :)

1. Captured this pic of Mike the Tiger taking a nap after the Men's Basketball game. Sometimes I wish I could just pet him, but think I think "eh, better not." [pitch perfect, anyone?]

2. Sushi for two. Had a great dinner date with my bff and long lost sister Danielle at Ichiban's. I love being able to catch up over good food. I wouldn't mind if this became a weekly event. 

3. I had a realization this week that my brush "collection" is out of control. Washing them is such a chore, mainly because I'm just lazy. But once their clean it makes me feel so much better. If you want to see how I clean this mountain of brushes, click here. 

4. I scored two House of Harlow look-a-like necklaces at Wet Seal for a total of $15 thanks to a bogo 50% off sale. I can finally check that off of my "find a less expensive version" wishlist. 

5. I really really enjoyed this month's Birchbox. I'll share what I got next week!

T...G... I... F. It's been a busy one. Here's a look back... 

1. Sunday was spent at the bookstore getting inspiration for decorating my condo. I'm on a decorating kick. I feel like my bedroom is done, and now it's time to focus on the main living areas. I wish I could just snap my fingers and have an HGTV designer come in and do it for me! (Sabrina Soto, can you hear me?) 

2. Who doesn't love a surprise cupcake from Cupcake Couture? 

3. I've started the deocrating process by replacing my old side table and re-styling it. It's not much, but it's a start y'all... 

4. Essie Mint Candy Apple for ya. I foresee this color on my nails many times this Spring and Summer. 

5. This week a friend passed his exam to officially become an RN! St. Patty's glasses for everyone thanks to The Bulldog!

Happy February, everyone! And of course... Happy Friday! Here's a glimpse of my week. 

1. I don't think I've ever pre-ordered jewelry before, so I was excited to finally get this rose gold pave necklace from Derng in this week! Not even sure when I'll wear it yet, so it's just a beautiful addition to my jewelry for now. 

2. I might have had a rough Saturday night, so Sunday lunch called for one of these. Don't judge my cheeseburger weakness! 

3. Super Gras (Super Bowl + Mardi Gras) is in full force in NOLA. And I'm very jealous of all the Super Bowl activities my family attended yesterday, but I'm loving the pictures. I mean, is that not the cutest future New Orleans Saint you've ever seen?! Or Dallas Cowboy... I'll take either one. :)

4. I've been missing a certain Houston friend this week. Especially hearing all about her dream house she's almost finished building. I can't wait to finally make a trip and visit in the near future! 

5. No fun nail polish this week. Trying to strengthen these brittle things in hopes of getting stronger, longer nails. OPI Nail Envy and Sally Hansen Maximum Growth are all I've been wearing. Not seeing any "earth-shattering" results yet, but I haven't given up hope.

It's been quite a busy and productive week. Had a day off, but sure didn't feel like it. Hello weekend! 

1. My version of breakfast in bed on a day off. 

2. Filling wall space, finally. Jewelry and shopping bags. 

3. Loving my new photos above my headboard.

4. Sometimes all you need is a 3 mile run alone to reset. So peaceful. 

5. Sushi and truffles for dinner. Legit.

It's.finally.Friday. I'm looking forward to quality time with my friends and family over the next couple of weeks. It's much... much... much... needed. 

1. This week marked two years since I became an LSU grad. And today is the day that my Kateepal comes home for the Holidays from London. If I could type my excitement, it would looks something like this: aslmfiwje;po!!!!;lasjfpwioej!!!palpqpajwfvl;qweior!!ahhhhhh!!!!!!!! Okay I'll stop.

2. There's something about getting a fresh mocha from a cup and saucer that just makes it feel so legit and necessary when it's cold outside. Thank you mother nature for finally realizing it's December. 

3. 'Tis the season to eat gingerbread cookies for breakfast for a week straight, right? Oh... it's not...?

4. As if Target wasn't the amazingness that it is already, all of the Neiman Marcus collection is 50% OFF! In stores and online. I took advantage of this and got the Tory Burch "printed container/thermos/what the hell is this" for $12.00. This sale is for a limited time only, so if you had your eye on something and couldn't justify the price, now is the time to check it out! 

5. How did this little guy get in here? In all seriousness, after the Newtown tragedy last Friday, I am loving on this boy more than I thought possible. I can't wait to spend Christmas with him and the rest of my family.

Not bad for a 4 day work week. Next week is 3 days. Gotta love the short weeks! 

Here's some highlights! 

1. Game nights are easily turning into "make your best Pinterest recipe." They should just make Pinterest a word in Webster Dictionary at this point. 

2. Sometimes seeing two pinks in one Starburst wrapper can make my day. Hey, it's the little things. 

3. The tree is up! Along with the rest of my Christmas decorations. If only I was this proactive about the rest of the things in my life. 

4. I ate my taco soup for three days straight. And I ain't complaining. It was the cat's pajamas. 

5. Lana Del Ray on repeat. She's amazing. "Off the Races" and "Blue Jeans".. check her out on iTunes or Pandora!

4. I love Essie polish. I love it even more when I get it for $4 at tj maxx. This is Power Clutch. Lurve.

1. Sundays are for hanging out with your nephew and taking him to get ice cream... and letting him pick out all the toppings he wants. #bestauntaward 

2. I do not wear glitter nail polish unless it's an accent nail... until this week. I spotted a bottle of "Big Money" at my boyfriend's apartment [his roommate's girlfriend's polish]. And I had to have it. I loved it, until it came time to remove it last night. Such.a.pain. 

3. My dad [Mr. Hire-Someone-Else-To-Build-You-A-Mantel] finally gave in to my endless begging and built, with his own hands and tools, this amazing fireplace mantel for my condo. All that was there before was the brick. I think he did an amazing job. Hmmmm, what else can I get him to build for me? 

4. Game night with the girls was a success. We had all the food, sweets, and Halloween decor that a game night party could have. I made some bite size apple pies that turned out amazing, thinking about sharing the recipe on the blog next week! 

5. I pre-ordered the Lauren Conrad Beauty book, my first pre-order experience, and I am SO excited it came in this week! Going to start reading it next week.

1. How am I 24 and just realizing how much I love grilled cheese sandwiches? 

Add Tomato Basil Soup and its the perfect comfort food on a chilly Fall day. 

2. Painted my nails with Essie Chinchilly. Was just in the mood for some gray.

3. Since I was out of thank you notes, I figured wrapping up some cookies and attaching a fresh flower was the next best thing! 

4. Made a quick trip to New Orleans for a meeting. Everyone should ride a street car at least once in their life! 

5. When I go to World Market, I have to buy something since my trips there are few and far between. These wafers were just staring at me, begging for a pantry to call home! 

It's been a long week for me, and I'm looking forward to a much needed dinner and drinks with my girls tonight! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

1. I highly recommend that you go see Pitch Perfect this weekend. It's hilarious and it was filmed on LSU's campus (my alma mater)! Warning: this movie will make you wish you knew how to sing and dance. 

2. Who doesn't look hot pink and leopard print together? 

3. I haven't bought new heels in a long time, so I picked these up from Frock Candy to wear to a wedding tomorrow. 

4. My Sigma Performance Eye Brushes came in yesterday! I have small eyelids which makes putting on eye shadow a somewhat difficult task. I've heard good things about this set, so I'm excited to see how these work for me. 

5.  My dad turned 60 this week; and to celebrate we ate dinner at Portico. Love spending QT with my dad and nephew!

1. My week was off to a rough start thanks to a night out with my old roomie and bff Kayla. 

Sunday was so rough that the most movement I did was bed to couch, then back to bed. 

2. It was time for the seasonal closet cleaning this week. The things I realize haven't been worn more than once is crazy. Like this bling bling NYE dress from circa 2009. Sexy ain't it? 

3. No Doubt is back. And I'm loving it... in a creepy obsessive way. I watched their E! special, their two appearances on Ellen, and broke out the Tragic Kingdom CD. Please tell me I'm not the only super-fan! 

4. The sun is setting earlier and earlier around here. Luckily I caught this one right before our walk around the lake. 

5. Is anyone else deathly afraid of haircuts? I've been seeing my stylist for 7 years, but I'm so attached to my hair it's ridiculous. Luckily, Meg can always read my mind and knows what I want without me having a clue.

Another work week down. Happy Friday, y'all! 

1. New ottoman from Overstock came in. Other than wall art and bedding, my bedroom is almost complete. 

Now on to bigger projects-- like (re)painting the living room and constructing a fireplace mantel. Halp!

2. Dropped Ben off at the airport. He's in St. Louis for two weeks on a work trip. 

Miss him a lot, but can't wait to see him next Friday! 

3. Shoutout to an avid Pastels and Mascara reader and one of my dearest friends, Danielle! She got a new job and I couldn't be happier for her! I love it when good things happen to good people. I love her to death. Hey Dani!

4. Got to squeeze in two walks around the LSU lakes this week with the roomie. The weather here has been so fall, and I'm loving it. 

5. What would a post be without including some new beauty goodies? You'll notice two things from my Fall Wish List. You've already seen my review on the Maybelline quad, so look for upcoming posts about the nail polish and mascara.

1. Finally (it's been months) fixed my watch! And added some new rose gold arm candy from Derng.  

2. I had some fun picking up new Fall & Halloween decor. I didn't know I liked glitter pumpkins until just a few days ago. 

3. Finally got my hands on a dupe for Chanel's Peridot polish. This one is Rare and Radiant by China Glaze from the Bohemian collection. It looks exactly like the Chanel version. Hard to photograph though since it looks three-four different colors, depending on the lighting. Opaque in just one coat for me!

4. Definitely broke out the Leaves candle this week. Bath & Body Works is candle heaven-- and Leaves is the best of the best. And I'm loving this year's new packaging. 

5. All this fall stuff, and I spent my labor day out by the pool. That's Louisiana for ya.
Daiquiris + Burgers on the grill + pool day = the essentials for a successful labor day.

It's Friday! Hooray!  

What kind of plans do you have for the weekend? 

1. Finally used my Ulta gift card from my birthday. That means I haven't shopped at Ulta in over a month. I don't know how I feel about that. Am I sick? I picked up a few Real Technique brushes I've been wanting; a new eyelash curler (desperately needed), the Maybelline Babylips in Pink Punch (lip product #68), and a new face primer. 

2. House shopping could not be going any slower. After failing to find anything in Houston last weekend, I hit up Pier 1. Saw a few things, and I just like taking pictures of the possibilities. House shopping is not for the indecisive mind. This could take years to complete. 

3. My new nail combo. I'm in love. Essie Ladylike + Urban Outfitters Afterhours. So pretty together yet so subtle even though I used glitter. Who knew Urban Outfitters had nail polish? 

4. I'm loving my new bow ring I got last weekend at Henri Bendel. So small, dainty, but fashionable. Love. 

5. Who doesn't love free food? Me and the bf hit up Rocco's for our favorite poboys after receiving some free drinks and an appetizer (fried pickles anyone?) at our previous visit for being good customers. Seriously, that place is amazing!

high five for friday

Happy Friday, everyone! 

It's been a busy week and I have a busy weekend ahead. Here's a few highlights from this week...

1. I took this picture at Qdoba because of how much queso these people gave me on my chips. After I had already had extra cheese, the cashier lady thought I didn't have enough chips, so she added more chips and then MORE cheese. I literally had triple-cheese-queso-mexican-goodness all floating in that bowl. Not good for me, but it tasted oh so good. 

2. Trying to organize my closet space better so I bought this new shoe rack from Target.

Thinking about getting another one to put on the side of it. 

3. Got some new goodies when I went on a trip to our outlet mall. I'm loving blouses and statement necklaces, so these are a few of what I picked up that day. 

4. I've been running around town buying some decorations and food for my nephew's birthday party this Saturday. I've always liked paper lanterns, but never had a reason to buy some. So I finally had a reason to busy some. :)

5. Speaking of my cute little 2 year old, I got to see him on his birthday. I can't believe he's already two years old. Time is flying by so fast!
